While you're on stage, direct your thanks towards the venue, not Monsoon. Your target audience is in the crowd, the venue wants you to be mouthpiece and champion of their brand. This strengthens the relationship between local artists and venue operators. Monsoon's target audience is the people who already are on stage so please refrain from saying "Thank you Monsoon" while on stage.
Avoid describing your songs as simply an "original" song. Your audience is there to connect with your music, so provide background for the stories you're telling. Also if you're gonna play a cover don't say "this one is a cover", instead, tell the audience why you love the song and then invite them to sing along if they know it.
While you’re not on stage, be an active part of the audience. Show your appreciation for other performers loudly and visibly. Clapping, cheering, and enjoying other acts not only fosters a supportive community but also encourages artists to do this for you
Bring business cards or promotional materials and be ready to network. Talk to the audience, venue staff, and fellow musicians before and after your set. This will open doors to future gigs, collaborations, and fanbase expansion.
After the performance, take the time to engage with attendees. Whether it's a quick chat at the merch table or a post-show meet-and-greet, these interactions can solidify connections and leave a lasting impression.
To understand how to become a part of Monsoon Music House, it's essential to first grasp what Monsoon Music House truly represents. At our core, we are a collective of talented musicians and entrepreneurs dedicated to orchestrating events with the ultimate goal of generating engaging content and cohesive storytelling, thereby creating compelling entertainment for our fans. The key to joining us is through direct collaboration – bring your unique talents to the table.
Monsoon is spearheaded by Edgar Wonder, a multi-faceted music personality whose sole mission is to elevate the artistry in New Mexico. Our team comprises musicians who, while pursuing their individual artistic goals, recognize the immense power of deep collaboration. We have a profound understanding of the intricacies of show organization, the dynamics of music marketing, and the fundamentals of community building. There are always shows to manage and opportunities to seize.
Remember, it's not always solely about you and your music – and this is a good thing. In a state like New Mexico, where there are limited venues to play at, a diverse approach to your music is key. As songwriters and musicians, we know the urge to constantly perform, but your contributions are far more impactful when you balance performance with other roles. Whether it's serving or performing, every role is crucial. Make music content while you're at it!
At Monsoon Music House, it’s about building a multifaceted community where each member contributes to and benefits from our collective growth. Join us in this journey of music, creativity, and community.
Monsoon is not just a collective, it's a movement that started with the simple idea of creating shows for local musicians. Our goal was to give artists a platform to showcase their talents, build their audience, and make a real impact on the music scene. Join us in our mission
With strong partnerships and growing resources, we are dedicated to supporting our members and elevating local music to new heights. From community shows to industry partnerships, we are creating a diverse and inclusive network where everyone has a chance to shine
